By default Windows XP doesn’t provide a search interface for Active Directory. However the functionality for searching users, contacts, printers, computers, etc. is available in dsquery command.

All you need to do is create a new shortcut with following command:

%SystemRoot%\system32\rundll32.exe dsquery,OpenQueryWindow
